Sea Organs
The Sea Organ is a unique attraction in Zadar – an architectural and musical installation on the waterfront that creates melodies using only the energy of the sea waves and wind, turning the coast into a magical sound experience for visitors and locals alike.
St. Donat
The Church of Saint Donatus in Zadar is one of the finest examples of pre-Romanesque architecture in Europe, built in the 9th century on the remains of the ancient Roman forum. Originally dedicated to the Holy Trinity, it was later named after Bishop Donatus, who is believed to have commissioned its construction.
A fascinating fact: parts of the Roman forum’s columns and stone blocks were reused in the church’s foundation — making it a true blend of Roman and medieval heritage. Today, due to its exceptional acoustics, the church is used as a venue for classical music concerts.
Kolovare beach
Kolovare Beach is the most popular city beach in Zadar, located just a short walk from the historic center. It features a long stretch of pebbles and sandy areas, offering crystal-clear waters and plenty of natural shade from pine trees. Facilities include showers, changing cabins, cafés, and a lively promenade, making it ideal for families, locals, and tourists. The beach is also known for its accessibility and vibrant summer atmosphere, with various sports and leisure activities available throughout the day.

years

Zadar is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe. The city has existed for over 3,000 years, with more than 2,000 years under urban influence – from the Liburnians, Romans, Byzantines, and Venetians to the Austro-Hungarians.

b.c

In this year, Zadar (then known as Iader) became a Roman colony, which granted it the right to adopt Roman governance, a forum, public baths (thermae), a sewage system, and other infrastructural benefits. During the Roman Empire, Zadar developed into a regional administrative center.

since

The incorrupt body of Saint Simeon, who recognized and blessed the infant Jesus in the temple, arrived in Zadar and has since been kept in the Church of Saint Simeon, making him the city's cherished patron.

Our beautifull city

Zadar is one of the oldest cities on the Croatian Adriatic coast, with roots dating back to the 9th century BC when it was founded as a settlement by the ancient Illyrians. Throughout its long history, Zadar was shaped by Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian influence, which can still be seen in its impressive archaeological sites and old city walls. Today, Zadar is renowned for its unique blend of historic landmarks and modern attractions, beautifully reflecting its rich and diverse past.
